Hunter Wohler is an American college football safety, who will play his final year of college football with the Wisconsin Badgers. Wohler began his football career at Muskego High School, where he was the recipient of the Jim Leonhard Award for the most outstanding defensive back in the state of Wisconsin. During his senior season, Wohler was named the 2021 Gatorade Wisconsin Player of the Year after leading his school to a 9-0 record while recording 78 tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble on defense. Wohler took home an array of awards including the Associated Press and WFCA Wisconsin Player of the Year twice. The four-star safety concluded his high school chapter with 355 tackles and 9 interceptions. Wohler’s transition to college football was seamless after he joined the Wisconsin Badgers in 2021 as the No.2 player in the state of Wisconsin. He also received offers from top programs like Iowa State, Michigan State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, and Stanford.

Wohler stood out in his rookie campaign where he saw action in all 13 games and recorded only 17 tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack. The following year as a sophomore, Wohler saw a minor drop in playing time as he suffered a leg injury but still managed to contribute in six games. His breakthrough campaign was in 2022, when he led the Badgers’ defense amid a tumultuous season. In 2023, Wohler accumulated 120 total tackles and two interceptions and was the only defensive back in the nation to register 110+ tackles and interceptions. Wohler has been ranked as the No. 8 safety in college football according to PFF entering the 2024 season.
