On Saturday, Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Travis Hunter showed his loyalty to his team off the field on EA CFB 25. Hunter posted a video on YouTube where he played against YouTuber PrinceJMG, aka Josh Gusman. At the start of the clip, Hunter declared he would be playing as the Buffaloes, saying:

“You already know who I'm playing with, boy. I don't play with nobody else on here. I don't play with nobody else — play with one team and one team only."

EA Sports has announced the ratings of its top 100 players, and Travis Hunter was ranked at No. 6 with a 95 overall rating. However, Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders wasn’t happy about Hunter's rating, nor that of his son, Shedeur Sanders. Sanders felt Hunter should’ve been the number one rated player on the game and said as much, as per On3:

“How can Travis not have the highest score on the game when he’s arguably the best receiver and the best defensive back in college football. So, how can you not be the No. 1-rated guy, period? I don’t understand that either.”

Sanders also wondered how Shedeur Sanders tied at 93 overall with Carson Beck.

“I’m just trying to figure out how can Shedeur be tied with another person. How did that happen? I don’t know nothing about that video game. I’m not a video game guy. I love video games, but I’m a real game guy. I don’t know. Like, you guys talk about ratings and rankings; I don’t know about that stuff.”

Deion Sanders compared Travis Hunter to two-way legends

Five-star recruit Travis Hunter defied expectations in 2022, becoming the first to join an HBCU under Deion Sanders at Jackson State. His talent was undeniable: 18 receptions, 190 yards and four touchdowns on offense, along with 20 tackles, two interceptions and 10 passes defended.

After Sanders went to Colorado, questions arose about Hunter's ability to translate his success. Unfazed, Sanders compared him to two-way legends Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey. Sanders’ comments were shared by On3's Hayes Fawcett on X (formerly Twitter):

“He’s something we haven’t seen in college football. Charles Woodson was HIM, Champ Bailey was HIM, those guys are unbelievable… but (Travis) he’s the best WR in college football and he’s the best CB in college football.”

Hunter's sophomore year will determine if he lives up to the hype.
