“I was skinny, I was bald”: Dan Lanning’s wife drops emotional statement on Oregon HC’s undying love during cancer treatment

Dan Lanning and his wife Sauphia have been married since 2009, and they share three children. The couple met in 2005 when they started working together.

Sauphia spoke about her husband's support during her battle against osteosarcoma, which is a very rare form of cancer.

Sauphia said (via ESPN):

"I sat in a wheelchair, and he would push me around the hospital, and he would sing to me. I was so sick. I was skinny. I was bald. And he never looked at me any differently. He looked at me with the same eyes and admiration."

Dan Lanning helped his wife during a very challenging time, which just shows the strength of their bond.

Sauphia Lanning was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. She had osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive type of bone cancer. Her treatment began in 2017 and it took a toll on her and her loved ones.

Dan Lanning was there to support her every step of the way, and he even put aside team duties to be by her side. He spoke about his wife's cancer diagnosis and its influence on the family.

He said:

"We are all really ambitious, and sometimes we just are not patient enough to realize how blessed we are to be exactly where we are at. I have learned to enjoy my blessings.

He continued:

"Wherever I am at, I enjoy the experience and understand I can impact people, the people that I am around and the people that impact me. It has been very rewarding."

Sauphia is getting back to speed and has become more vocal about the struggles of being diagnosed with cancer and the importance of having a supportive partner.
