Illinois vs Rutgers prediction & betting tips - Nov. 23 | College Football Week 13

The No. 24-ranked Illinois Fighting Illini are on the road to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday at noon ET. The game can be seen on Peacock.

Both teams are coming off wins as Illinois (7-3, 4-3 Big Ten) won 38-16 over Michigan State, while Rutgers (6-4, 3-4) won 31-17 against Maryland.

Illinois vs Rutgers: Preview

Illinois is a one-point underdog while the over/under is set at 48 points.

The Fighting Illini have been a surprise team this season and snapped their two-game losing streak last Saturday. Illinois was led by Josh McCray who rushed for three touchdowns while Luke Altmyer threw for 231 yards and two TDs.

With the win, Illinois finished 6-1 at home and won six games at home for the first time since 2001.

"This is what we've tried to do since we came here five years ago," Fighting Illini coach Brett Bielema said on Saturday, via CBS. "Change the expectations of what people think of this place and what it is."

Illinois is led by Altmyer who has thrown for 2,124 yards, 18 TDs and three interceptions. Pat Bryant has caught 43 passes for 717 yards and eight TDs.

Defensively, Xavier Scott has three interceptions, Gabe Jacas has eight sacks and Matthew Bailey has 62 tackles.

Meanwhile, the Scarlet Knights are on a two-game winning streak and are bowl-eligible again.

Rutgers has a chance to win three straight Big Ten games for the first time in history. Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano said it is "cool" but they are taking it one game at a time.

"None of that matters to me," Schiano said on Monday, via 247Sports. "What matters to me is what we're doing right now, game planning for Illinois, then tomorrow practicing for Illinois, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. That's all I think about.

"Those things are neat stuff, I guess, and it's a valid question, but to me if that were to be the case, that meant we were 1-0 at the end of the Illinois season, that's what would make me really, really happy."

Rutgers is led by Athan Kaliakmanis who has thrown for 2,128 yards, 14 TDs and six interceptions. Kyle Monangai has rushed for 1,028 yards and 12 TDs, while Dymere Miller has caught 50 passes for 645 yards and four TDs.

Defensively, Shaquan Loyal has two interceptions, Kyonte Hamilton has 3.5 sacks and Dariel Djabome has 88 tackles.

This should be a good game as Illinois and Rutgers have both surprised with how good they have been this season. However, at home, Rutgers should be able to edge out a big win.

Kaliakmanis has been solid this season and he should be able to throw a couple of touchdown passes to help the Scarlet Knights get the win.

Prediction: Rutgers 27, Illinois 24.
