Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels make a statement with Gator Bowl blowout
Ole Miss steamrolled Duke 52–20 in the Gator Bowl, leaving no doubt about their dominance. Jaxson Dart shone in what might be his final college game, throwing for 404 yards and four touchdowns. The Rebels racked up 589 total yards, holding Duke to just seven points until late in the fourth quarter.
Kiffin made it clear the win was more than just a victory.
"I'm just proud of our players, you know, they decided to play in this game and they played really well and they wanted to send a statement to a lot of people they felt left out of something," Kiffin said postgame.
He expressed frustration over Ole Miss's exclusion from the 12-team College Football Playoff despite a 9–3 season.
The Rebels’ relentless offense in the final moments, including backup quarterback Austin Simmons' 34-yard pass, sparked controversy.
"So I think they showed today against a really good team nine win ACC team that I think was the best defense supposedly in the ACC ... we're just getting started," Kiffin said.
Lane Kiffin's team bagged 21 wins in two seasons. This game proved Ole Miss wasn’t backing down anytime soon.
