The Utah Utes quarterback Cam Rising once had a promising season, but after a string of injuries, it has gone downhill for both the team and the player. Rising was first injured against Baylor on September 7, but returned on October 11. Unfortunately for him, he was injured again in the game.

At the time, the severity of the injury was not known, but now it has been deemed to be season-ending. So, Rising will not start for the Utah Utes in their game against the Houston Cougars today.

Is Cam Rising playing today?

Utah Utes quarterback Cam Rising will not start against Houston today. He is out for the rest of the season with a leg injury. With Rising out of the lineup, backup quarterback Isaac Wilson will get the start.

What happened to Cam Rising?

Rising returned from a previous injury in Utah's 27-19 loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils. However, on the first drive of the game, he bent his leg at an awkward angle. He appeared to be bothered by it, but remained in the game.

This injury was unrelated to his previous injury, one to his throwing hand, which caused him to miss three games earlier in the year.

When will Cam Rising return?

Cam Rising will not return this season for the Utah Utes. He will need to miss the rest of the season to heal from his injury, although the exact nature of it has not been revealed by Rising or the coaching staff. Head coach Kyle Whittingham spoke about Rising's injury on Monday, October 14.

"After saying earlier in the day that Rising was out indefinitely, upon further evaluation from the medical staff, Rising's injury has unforutnately been deemed season-ending.
"During his time at Utah, Cam has been both a great player and leader for our program, and he will obviously be missed. Any further developments concerning his collegiate eligibility will be addressed at a later date."

Since Rising has dealt with two different injuries this season, he has only played three games, which is under the four-game maximum to medically redshirt. However, it is unclear if that is a path Cam Rising is interested in taking.

If he returns for another season, it would be his eighth college season. He started his career in 2018 with Texas and redshirted. He then transferred to Utah and needed to sit out a year based on NCAA rules at the time.

Then, he only played one game in 2020 before suffering a shoulder injury. As a result, he is still eligible for another season, despite this being his seventh year in college.
