The ETSU vs Citadel Southern Conference showdown is scheduled to be held this weekend. Both these teams are 2-2 so far and will be looking to add another victory to their record for the 2024 season.

However, unforeseen circumstances are creating difficulties before Citadel takes on East Tennessee in this FCS game.

Is ETSU vs Citadel game canceled?

No, the ETSU vs Citadel showdown has not yet been canceled. However, according to a tweet by Outkick's Clay Travis, ETSU is having trouble traveling to Charleston for the game due to the stormy weather causing flooding.

In his tweet, Travis shared the text he received from ETSU QB coach Tyler Dell. In the text, Dell explains the challenges his team is facing because of the storm.

"ETSU head coach Tyler Dell texts me his team is stranded on buses in Asheville because of flooding. The team is sleeping on the buses tonight in parking lots. So far Citadel has not changed the game time, which is set for two tomorrow. Absolutely crazy situation," Travis wrote.

Tyler Dell also shared how he hoped the ETSU vs Citadel game would be shifted to Sunday instead of Saturday. However, he believes that they might have no choice but to spend the night on the bus and then travel to Charleston to play their scheduled game.

ETSU's Athletic Director, Dr. Richard Sander also shared a statement explaining the situation that their football team is currently in. He said that the team is safe and its travel will resume when the interstate opens again.

"Due to flash flooding in North Carolina, the ETSU Football team, at this time, is unable to finish traveling to Charleston, S.C. for their game versus The Citadel. The team is safe and will spend the night in North Carolina. They will resume travel when the interstate reopens."
