What happened to Gary Bryant Jr.?
Bryant Jr. suffered a knee injury in preseason and has been recovering since. Despite getting into a game early in the season, he has not been able to return since. He is listed as out and there have not been any recent updates on his status.
Head coach Dan Lanning last spoke about Bryant Jr. in late September. He said:
"He's down right now. We're working to get him back. Once he's back we're gonna be able to utilize him."
Based on those comments, it does not seem like the Oregon coaching staff are keeping him out while he is healthy. They are interested in using him as part of the wide receiver core. However, he is not healthy and has not been able to have an impact yet this season.
When will Gary Bryant Jr. return?
There is no timeline for Gary Bryant Jr.'s return.
Bryant Jr. transferred to Oregon last season after three years with USC. He had a successful season by his standards, registering 30 receptions for 442 yards and four touchdowns.
If Bryant Jr. is unable to return this season and play more than four games, he will be eligible to medically redshirt. In that case, he would still have two seasons of eligibility. So, he could return to the Oregon Ducks next season.
