Graham Mertz has been in concussion protocol for about a week and a half since suffering a concussion during the first game of the year against the Miami Hurricanes. Mertz recently began practicing, and his coach, Billy Napier, told reporters that he's been looking good in training.
According to Yahoo Sports, Napier said regarding Mertz,
"He had a great week. The ball's jumping out of his hand. I think he's getting back into a rhythm."
Hence, let's examine Graham Mertz's availability ahead of the Gators' Week 3 game against Texas A&M.
Is Graham Mertz playing today?
Graham Mertz is highly likely to play a part in today's game against the Texas A&M Aggies. That's because Mertz has been cleared following his stint in concussion protocol and his impressive appearances in team training for the Gators.
Bill Napier plans to use a dual quarterback approach against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. Hence, Mertz and DJ Lagway have practiced with the first and second team groups this week.
The Florida coach said:
"Both players were able to get reps with both groups. They are preparing at a high level and ready to play in the matchup."
Napier also waxed lyrical about how the quarterbacks have showcased healthy competition in training:
"It has been amazing to see them work together as they prepare in training. Encouraging each other, collaborating with each other."
