Nick Saban will be one of the most notable absences in Alabama football’s entourage that will be gracing the 2024 SEC Media Days. The event will take place from Jul. 15-18 at the Omni Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
It has been 17 long years for the Crimson Tide faithful to see Saban at the top of things ahead of a new college football season. However, Saban isn't stepping away from the limelight entirely. He will be present with the SEC Network as an ESPN analyst.
An email to ESPN lists the former Alabama coach as a football commentator, joining the likes of Greg McElroy and Paul Finebaum, among others. Fans will tune in expecting insightful commentary from Saban, leveraging his extensive experience and deep knowledge of the game.
The Alabama contingent will meet with the media on Jul. 17, represented by new head coach Kalen DeBoer. Alongside him will be quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker and defensive back Malachi Moore.
CFB analyst believes the torch is passed from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer
It has been a tough year for the Alabama fans who had to see their beloved head coach Nick Saban leave the CFB world after 17 years of dominance. As time and tide waits for none, Alabama football is entering a new era with Kalen DeBoer at the helm.
It wouldn’t be easy for the former Washington coach to replace the legacy of the seven-time national championship winner. However, college football analyst Josh Pate views this transition as historic.
"You may be looking at one of the most high-level handoffs of the baton in the history of the sport," Pate said. "From one icon to another guy whose best chapters of his career may be made in Tuscaloosa.
"So, Alabama is the No. 2 program in the country over the next three years."
The Crimson Tide haven’t let Saban’s departure affect their plans as Alabama continues its aggressive stance in recruiting, a cornerstone of the program’s success under Saban.
