Running back Nick Singleton and the No. 3-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions are set to face the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks in the Big 10 Championship Game on Saturday. However, this game between the Ducks (12-0) and Nittany Lions (11-1) is not one without injury concerns. Notably, Nick Singleton's status has been in doubt.

Singleton left a game against Washington a few weeks ago with what was described as a short-term issue. Fortunately for the Nittany Lions, that has been true as he has not missed any games. He is expected to be available again against Oregon.

Nick Singleton injury update

Nick Singleton was forced to leave Penn State's 35-6 win over Washington on Nov. 9 after suffering an undisclosed injury. Singleton had been dealing with various lingering injuries throughout the season but had not needed to miss time before that point. He did not return to the game after leaving.

However, Singleton was able to play the next week against Purdue and has not missed a game since then. He participated in every game this season for Penn State, and that is expected to continue in the Big 10 Championship Game against Oregon.

What happened to Nick Singleton?

Singleton left the game against Washington early in the third quarter. He took a toss pass from quarterback Drew Allar and was dragged down by linebacker Carson Bruener. He left the game and did not return. He was not seen on the bench. After the game, head coach James Franklin spoke about Singleton:

"I think you guys know, Nick's had some things lingering on and off throughout the year."

The injury was never disclosed, but it was not severe and only kept Singleton out for the rest of that game.

When did Nick Singleton return?

After missing half of the game against Washington, Singleton returned the next week for a 49-10 win over Purdue. The coaching staff have not expressed any concern about lingering injuries for Singleton since then.

However, it is worth mentioning that the coaching staff had previously indicated that Singleton had been dealing with lingering injuries throughout the year. So, it is possible that he is still not at 100% health. However, that is not expected to have an impact on his status for the Big 10 Championship Game. He will be a full participant as the Nittany Lions try to win a championship.
