Wide receiver Omarion Miller had a big game on Saturday for the Colorado Buffaloes against the Kansas State Wildcats. After star wide receiver Travis Hunter left the game in the second quarter, Miller stepped up with eight receptions and 145 yards. It was a big breakout performance for Miller, who had only played one other game this season.
While his efforts did not result in a win for Colorado, they would likely earn him more playing time going forward. However, he was injured early in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game. His availability status for the rest of his season is in doubt.
Omarion Miller injury update
Head coach Deion Sanders spoke on Tuesday and confirmed that it is likely that Miller will miss the rest of the season. He suffered a significant leg injury that required surgery. Sanders said this about Miller:
"He had surgery yesterday. I don't think he'll be back this season."
The injury is disappointing for the Buffaloes, as earlier in the game, it looked like they had a new star wide receiver emerging. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders spoke about Miller on his YouTube channel on Tuesday.
"I was looking forward to playing with him, you know, this season, and I know know if he's coming back or not; I'm not sure," Sanders said. "But he's a guy that definitely is a big impact guy, you know, that was going to find his way on the field. Whenever he got his opportunity, he always took advantage of it, so that's what's really sad right there."
What happened to Omarion Miller?
Omarion Miller left the game against Kansas State early in the fourth quarter after receiving a 51-yard pass from quarterback Shedeur Sanders. The wide receiver was in visible pain after the play and needed help getting to the sideline. He was later seen on the sideline sitting in a wheelchair with his left leg in a cast. As you would expect, he did not return to the game.
When will Omarion Miller return?
Since Omarion Miller had surgery on his leg and more than half of the college football season is over, he is unlikely to return this season. However, he is only a sophomore and should be expected to return for the Buffaloes next season. He will have a much more significant role with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, as they will both likely enter the NFL draft in the spring.
