"It was quite invasive" - When Coach Prime's ex-wife Pilar Sanders got candid on her reality show with Deion Sanders

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sander's ex-wife Pilar Sanders has been ever-present at their children's (Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi) games in Boulder as the Coach Prime effect has taken over college football. The pair were married between 1999 and 2013 before a divorce that was splashed in the tabloids.

During a 2022 episode of the "Second Shot" podcast, Pilar remarked on the invasive nature of Coach Prime's reality show "Deion and Pilar: Prime Time Love" and how she dealt with it:

"At first it was quite invasive because I'm more of an introvert, I think I am anyway," Pilar Sanders said. "Really private, so having the cameras in my house all the time, after a month or two you kinda get used to it and you just gaze over it like it doesn't matter, whatever.

"You truly forget about the cameras and the extra people and the wires and everything in the house. You just, you don't care, you get to a point where it's like, whatever, you really do." (0:31)

Pilar further revealed how she dealt with the headlines that her divorce generated from all the media coverage.

"Unfortunately it was public and it was made very public. Again, I'm very private. Well, I didn't have a mic, so a lot of things, untruths made it to the media and it's not like I had a way to fight back publicly, nor did I really want to.

"Because my focus was my and their safety, their mental health, their wellbeing and of course, my mental health and wellbeing because being married for 13 years, you're focused on your husband."

Pilar Sanders was "heartbroken and surprised" by her divorce from Coach Prime

The divorce between Pilar Sanders and Coach Prime became a topic of gossip due to the constant needling between the pair. According to TMZ, Pilar learned of their impending divorce from their website and her lawyer Larry Friedman revealed she was:

"Heartbroken and surprised when [she] read ... that Deion announced his decision, on his own, to end their marriage."

"Pilar's sole focus and top priority for the last 12.5 years has been her marriage and children. Based on recent discoveries, [Pilar] now realizes that Deion did not view their family the same way." Friedman said.

These days Pilar Sanders and Coach Prime co-parent their children and seem to be convivial. However, there was an incident when Shelomi Sanders opted to leave Boulder to join the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, a decision that was not well-received by the Colorado coach. This led to a back-and-forth between Pilar and her ex-husband.
