Jake Retzlaff is a quarterback for the BYU Cougars and will be redshirted as a junior in 2024. He hails from Corona, California, and attended Centennial High School. Retzlaff played his junior year under head coach Matt Logan. He missed his senior year due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Jake had a successful junior year, he threw 1,067 yards for 8 touchdowns in 2019. Retzlaff previously played for Riverside City College and transferred to Brigham Young University in 2023. In 2023, Retzlaff was ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the Junior College 50 and No. 46 overall by ESPN. He quickly became an important player at BYU and was named the co-captain for the 2024 season. He is pursuing a major in Exercise Science at BYU.

Among those, Retzlaff managed to achieve a school record of 529 passing yards for six touchdowns in a single game. He had nine games with over 300 yards of passing, of which six exceeded 400 yards, and two were beyond 500 yards.
