Jalen Milroe had his best game of the season against the No. 2 Georiga Bulldogs (3-1) on Saturday. The Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0) quarterback led his No. 4-ranked team to a 41-34 win in the battle between the two Southeastern Conference heavyweights at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Milroe completed 27 of 33 passes for 374 yards and two touchdowns with one interception against the Bulldogs. He also rushed for a game-high 117 yards and scored two touchdowns on 16 carries.
With a masterful display against one of the best teams in the country, Milroe has certainly put himself in pole position for the Heisman Trophy after Week 5. The quarterback will now want to build on those numbers and ensure that he keeps delivering for the Tide, who are yet to lose a game this season.
In four games this season, Milroe has completed 62 of 85 passes for 964 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception. He has an 87.6 quarterback rating, which is the fifth-best in the country. The signal-caller also has 156 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 36 carries.
While Milroe was already tipped as a frontrunner to win the Heisman this season, he will face some competition from the likes of Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer waxes lyrical on Jalen Milroe after dominant outing vs. Georgia
Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer was all praise for Jalen Milroe after the Tide's win over Georgia on Saturday.
“He (Milroe) was, I think, exceptional,” DeBoer said. “I really– I didn’t want to jump the gun, but I just really felt like the last couple weeks– it starts with the Wisconsin game, where he got into a little bit of a rhythm. Made those plays. We still didn’t have enough opportunities, really.”
The Tide will want to continue their strong and unbeaten start to the season when they travel to face the Vanderbilt Commodores in Week 6 on Saturday.
