After an impressive bowl triumph, the whispers around QB Jaxson Dart of NFL expectations have grown louder. Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward seem to be accepted as the only two near-certain first-round NFL draft QBs, but Dart is an intriguing prospect. He passed for 11,970 yards and 81 collegiate touchdowns.
Dart started his college career at USC but transferred to Ole Miss, where he started for three seasons under Lane Kiffin. Dart sometimes struggled in big games, but on the whole, has put together a very impressive career.
With the NFL taking notice, here are three potential NFL landing spots for Dart.
Jaxson Dart NFL Draft: 3 teams likely to draft Ole Miss QB
#3. New York Jets
In the best of all possible worlds, Aaron Rodgers would be getting long in the tooth at age 40. But the Jets aren't occupying that world, as Rodgers is playing like he's beyond the realm of professional football. Which is fair, his time is in and his statements have long since been made on the NFL level.
But it leaves the Jets in dire need of QB help. New York has enough diverse issues that they probably would prefer not to spend an early pick on a QB. The possibility of getting Dart with, say, a second or third-round pick would likely be very attractive for the Jets. Dart would rapidly get his shot at the biggest media city on Earth.
#2. Tennessee Titans
Speaking of teams that need help, the Titans are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Second-year QB Will Levis has failed to meet expectations and veteran Mason Rudolph is just a journeyman. Tennessee needs a quarterback.
But the Titans need just about everything else too. Their offensive line is horrific, their defensive backfield is thin and aging, and the wide receiver corps is unimpressive. While the Titans will hold a high pick, they'd probably love to draft a receiver, a tackle or a defensive back first and take a QB a bit later... which could work out for Dart.
#1. Las Vegas Raiders
It's kind of a continuing theme, but the Raiders might not be quite as lost as the teams ahead of them. That said, their QB need is genuine and obvious. The Raiders are probably sliding outside of the Shedeur/Ward portion of the draft.
As with the Titans, strength in numbers might be a blessing. The Raiders could help a porous defense first and then take a QB. Dart has some West Coast ties from his time at USC and might be a wise gamble for the young and inexperienced Raiders.
