Jay Norvell is the head coach of the Colorado State Rams football team, as of 2024. Norvell became Colorado State's 24th full-time head coach in December 2021. Before transferring to Colorado State, Coach Norvell coached at Nevada Wolf Pack from 2017 through 2021, where Norvell had four bowl appearances and won four consecutive seasons. He coached players like Carson Strong who won back-to-back Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year awards. Norvell coached wide receivers, tight ends, and quarterbacks throughout his career. He was also the offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator. His coaching career led him to many notable roles in both, college football and the NFL.

Jay Norvell's coaching history

Norvell began as a graduate assistant at Iowa under coach Hayden Fry. His career then moved through Power 5 programs in which he held prominent offensive coaching positions at Nebraska, UCLA, Texas, and Oklahoma as the co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach. He also coached in the NFL teams, where he guided Indianapolis Colts’ wide receivers and was the tight ends coach for the Oakland Raiders. He helped players like Tim Brown and Marvin Harrison to become one of the top players in the nation. Norvell was at Nevada from 2017 to 2021, where he earned four bowl appearances and won two bowl games. He received the 2020-21 National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches Coach of the Year award.
