After Oklahoma State linebacker Jeff Roberson indicated plans to enter the transfer portal, a quick competition arose to sign the veteran linebacker. Roberson's career had been fairly disappointing, but the veteran linebacker caught fire in his fifth season. Now he's a much sought-after portal entrant, albeit one with a very likely landing spot.

Still, Roberson's 2024 season, with 58 tackles including nine tackles for loss and three QB sacks, makes him a player worth considering the possibilities. While there's an in-state leader in his portal recruitment, several schools could be interested. Here's a rundown of three top landing spots for Roberson.

3. Kansas

The Jayhawks had a tough 2024 season. They were one of the schools that recruited Roberson out of high school and could benefit from his services in 2025. The top three Kansas tacklers at the linebacker spot were all seniors. Roberson would have a spot as the Jayhawks look to rebound in the up-and-down Big 12.

Kansas was expected to finish near the top of the Big 12 in 2024. The league is definitely the most wide-open of the power conferences, and even in a down season, Kansas's aggressive defense was third in the Big 12 in sacks. Adding Roberson could make sense for both parties.

2. Nebraska

Matt Rhule and Nebraska finally broke through for the school's first winning season since 2016. However, the 7-6 Huskers still need help to be competitive in the Big Ten. Three of the top four linebacker tacklers on the Nebraska roster for 2024 were seniors. Roberson would have a spot.

His pass-rush and coverage skills could help the Huskers in a top-heavy Big Ten with a couple of giants. Nebraska might not be the favorite, but it could be the landing spot for Roberson.

1. Oklahoma

Oklahoma has emerged as an early favorite for Roberson. Senior Danny Stutsman was an outstanding linebacker on a 6-7 Oklahoma team. But Stutsman is now gone and so are 27 Sooners in the transfer portal. With coach Brent Venables' future uncertain, Oklahoma has to get aggressive.

Taking Roberson should add some skill and experience to an Oklahoma defense that wasn't awful in 2024. If the Sooners can establish an offense, they could be competitive, even in the Southeastern Conference. Roberson is a significant part of their plan.
