John Curry is an American college football player who redshirted his freshman season with Texas Tech last year. Curry started his football career at Coronado High School where he was a three-year letterwinner and led the Mustangs to three district championships. He was a standout baseball player at Coronado and earned first-team All-District Honours. As a senior, Curry recorded 119 tackles including 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Following a successful prep career, the three-star linebacker from Lubbock received an offer from the program he supported from an early age, Texas Tech Red Raiders in 2021. Curry was ranked the No.45 inside linebacker in the country by ESPN.

Curry also received an offer from Northwestern but embarked on his collegiate journey with Texas Tech in 2023. In his freshman season, Curry saw action in only five games and mostly appeared on special teams. He redshirted his rookie campaign thus maintaining his year of eligibility. In his second year on campus, Curry aims to improve in getting downhill and become a valuable asset to the linebackers.
