Josh Hoover is an American college football quarterback who has been with the TCU Horned Frogs over the past two seasons. Coming out of Rockwall-Heath High School as a three-star recruit, Hoover would be vying for the starting role with the Frogs in the 2024 season. During his varsity years, the Alabama native was regarded as the 72nd-best overall player in the state of Texas. The 6ft 1 quarterback was also the recipient of the 2021 Landry Award which is given to the top high school football player from North Texas. Hoover concluded his high school football career with 9,953 passing yards and 108 touchdowns.
The three-star quarterback from Rockwall signed with TCU Horned Frogs after initially committing to the Indiana Hoosiers. Hoover also held offers from Arkansas State, Illinois State, Massachusetts, Nevada, North Texas, Houston, UTSA, and Utah State among others. In his freshman season, Hoover appeared in only one game and redshirted the 2022 season. The following year, Hoover started the final six games of the season and threw for 2,206 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine receptions. The redshirt sophomore sustained an injury that required surgery but is expected to be back for the summer workouts in July according to TCU.
