One of the more intriguing ACC Media Day 2024 appearances will be from California Golden Bears coach Justin Wilcox. The team is making the jump from the Pac-12 Conference to the ACC this season and there are a lot of questions that the assembled media can ask him. Let's take a look at some we would like to hear.
Top questions for Justin Wilcox at ACC Media Days 2024
Do you feel that you can compete in the ACC?
This is a simple first question we could hear but it does give us a sense of how Justin Wilcox feels about this team. He can come out and emphatically say yes or he can beat around the bush saying something like 'The program is just trying to be competitive in a brand-new conference.'
Will the travel be a hindrance to what the Golden Bears can do?
With the first question, this is a bit of a jump-off point as the California Golden Bears have to travel to the East Coast for four games that are not in consecutive weeks (9/7 at Auburn, 9/21 at Florida State, 10/12 at Pittsburgh, 11/8 at Wake Forest) and this is not considering if they make the ACC Championship Game.
That is a lot of travel that we do not typically see in college football so many will be curious to see how Justin Wilcox would answer this.
What do you expect out of your wide receiver group this season?
The California Golden Bears saw a lot of movement in the transfer portal at the wide receiver position. Tobias Merriweather (Notre Dame), Mikey Matthews (Utah), Kyion Grayes (Ohio State), and Jonathan Brady (New Mexico State) are all fresh from the NCAA Transfer Portal while Isaac Torres has not played a snap of Division I college football.
Junior Trond Grizzell is the only returning wide receiver from the 2023 season who is expected to get a good amount of playing time. It will be a challenge to develop chemistry with the receivers so it will be interesting to see how coach Justin Wilcox addresses that at ACC Media Days 2024.
