Salter's first significant opportunity came in the second week of the 2022 season when he started against UAB. He completed 13 of 25 passes for 202 yards and added a rushing touchdown, leading Liberty to a victory. His performance continued to improve throughout the season, culminating in a notable showing during the Boca Raton Bowl against Toledo. In the 2023 season, he began with a strong performance against Bowling Green, making two touchdowns and rushing for over 80 yards. His most impressive outing came against Buffalo where he threw for five touchdowns and amassed over 400 total yards. This performance earned him recognition as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week. Salter's ability to perform under pressure was further highlighted during the Conference USA Championship game against New Mexico State, where he threw for over 300 yards and secured his team's first conference title.
