The Kentucky Wildcats (3-5, 1-5 SEC conference) will travel to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 10. Mark Stoops and his team are fighting for a spot in the bowl games this season and their hopes lie in how this SEC showdown against the Vols plays out at Neyland Stadium.
Last week, the Wildcats succumbed to a 24-10 defeat at the hands of the Auburn Tigers. This put them on a three-game losing streak and further away from participating in this season's bowl games. So who will be the Wildcats' starting QB against Tennessee?
Kentucky Wildcats starting quarterback against the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 10
Brock Vandagriff will be the starting quarterback for Kentucky against the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 10. He has started in all games so far this season for the team and has recorded a total of 1,236 passing yards and six TD passes against five interceptions.
Last week against Auburn, Vandagriff managed to complete only 9-of-the-27 passes he attempted while throwing for 120 passing yards. He will have to step up his game if he wants to help the Wildcats secure bowl game eligibility.
Coming out of Prince Avenue Christian School, Brock Vandagriff committed to the Georgia Bulldogs as a part of the 2021 recruiting class. During his freshman campaign, he played in two games behind JT Daniels and Stetson Bennett.
Vandagriff was a part of the Bulldogs squad that went on to win back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. Last season, he competed for the QB1 job alongside Carson Beck and Gunner Stockton.
In the end, Beck was named as the starting quarterback of Georgia. He then decided to transfer to Kentucky this offseason where he was named as the starting quarterback of the team.
Kentucky's quarterback depth chart
Apart from Brock Vandagriff as the starter, the Wildcats' quarterback depth chart also includes Gavin Wimsatt, Cutter Boley, and Beau Allen. Wimsatt began his collegiate journey with Rutgers in 2021.
He spent three seasons with them before joining the Wildcats this offseason. So far, Wimsatt has seen limited playing time on the field this campaign. He has tallied a total of 93 passing yards and two TD passes.
Apart from this, Cutter Boley is another option for Mark Stoops in the QB department. He is yet to make his debut for Kentucky. Beau Allen is another option the Wildcats can rely on. He started his college journey with the program in 2020.
After two seasons, he transferred to Tarleton State before returning to the FBS ranks as a part of Georgia Southern in 2023. Unfortunately, the NCAA's rule on transfer invalidated him from making an appearance for the team last season. He then decided to return to Kentucky with two years of eligibility remaining.
