The No. 3 Texas Longhorns will take on the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 13 of the 2024 college football season. The game is scheduled for Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Longhorns have performed exceptionally in their debut SEC campaign, securing a 9-1 (5-1 SEC Conference) overall campaign. After last week's victory over Arkansas, they secured a three-game winning streak and are hopeful of emerging as SEC champions and securing an automatic bid in this year's 12-team playoffs.
On the other hand, the Kentucky Wildcats are still fighting for bowl-eligibility with just two games remaining in the regular season. They have a 4-6 (1-6 SEC) record after last week's victory over Murray State. A loss to Texas will result in their season ending on a disappointing note.
Texas football's injury report
Morice Blackwell Jr.
LB Morice Blackwell Jr. is listed as probable for Texas' Week 13 showdown against Kentucky. He missed last week's showdown against Arkansas due to an injury. Coach Steve Sarkisian said on Thursday that he is hopeful of Blackwell making a comeback against Kentucky as it will bolster their defense on the field.
Colton Vasek
Redshirt freshman EDGE Colton Vasek is also listed as probable by the Longhorns. He missed the last two games due to an injury. So far this season, he has tallied six tackles and two sacks for Sarkisian's team.
Vasek proved his worth on the field for the Longhorns before his injury. It will be interesting to see if he can finally make a comeback against the Wildcats on Saturday.
DeAndre Moore Jr.
WR DeAndre Moore Jr. suffered a leg injury last week during the Longhorns' victory against Arkansas. He is listed as questionable in Week 13, as the team takes cautious measures to ensure he is healthy for its rivalry game against Texas A&M the following week.
Moore has been a key player for Steve Sarkisian's offense. Before his injury, he tallied 263 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games.
CJ Baxter, Derek Williams Jr., Christian Clark and Velton Gardner are listed as out after suffering season-ending injuries. There is no change in their status, and fans can expect to see them on the field again next season.
Kentucky football's injury report
Kahlil Saunders
Defensive lineman Kahlil Saunders is listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Texas Longhorns. The last game he played was during Kentucky's loss to Tennessee. He missed the team's victory over Murray State in Week 12 because of his injury. Saunders has tallied a total of 14 tackles this season for the Wildcats.
Courtland Ford
Redshirt senior Courtland Ford is listed as questionable for Week 13. Ford is rehabilitating from an undisclosed injury and is yet to make an appearance for the Wildcats this season.
J.J. Weaver
OLB J.J. Weaver is listed as probable for the Wildcats' game against the Longhorns. He suffered an ankle injury against Auburn and has been out since then. Having Weaver back could be a massive boost to the Wildcats' arsenal on the field.
DJ Waller Jr., Jantzen Dunn, Daveren Rayner, Terhyon Nichols, Darrion Henry-Young, D'Eryk Jackson, Gerald Mincey and Tavion Gadson are out for Week 13.
Despite this, the Wildcats have a healthier lineup than they had against Tennessee, with Chip Trayanum, Maxwell Hairston, Steven Sole Jr., Jordan Dingle, Josaih Hayes and Quay'Sheed Scott all set to make a comeback against Texas.
