Despite facing competition in a talented backfield, Drake amassed 1,495 rushing yards and 22 total touchdowns throughout his four seasons. His most productive year came in 2013 when he rushed for a career-high 694 yards and eight touchdowns on 92 carries.

In his freshman year (2012), he rushed for over 200 yards and five touchdowns as a backup to Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon.

The 30-year-old played eight seasons in the league, most notably for the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals.

The Dolphins selected Drake in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft, and he spent his first three-plus seasons in Miami before moving to the Cardinals in 2019. He enjoyed a productive stint in Arizona and put up strong numbers for a season and a half.

After his time with the Cardinals, Drake's career saw him bounce around the league. He spent the 2020 season back in Arizona before brief stints with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and the Baltimore Ravens in 2022.

Drake also joined the practice squads of the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns but never saw game action for either team.

Drake talked to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson about his retirement over text. In the message, he indicated a desire to move on from the "business" side of football.

"Yes it is. It felt like the right time. I love the game, but I don't love the business. I'm at peace with the decision. I'm healthy and ready to start the next chapter of my life," he said.

Kenyan Drake's statistical profile includes 3,866 rushing yards and 33 rushing touchdowns on 869 carries. He also caught 218 passes for 1,655 yards and eight touchdowns.

Drake's explosiveness extended to the return game, where he notched a kickoff return touchdown as a rookie and another in his final college game. He also scored the winning touchdown on the "Miami Miracle" play in 2018.

“I can’t say I loved everything (if you’ve ever done training camp in Miami you can relate lol), but certainly appreciate the lows and the grind, and know those moments grew me as a football player and more importantly as a person.
“Ready to enjoy a little retirement and see where the next chapter takes me. Thanks to everyone that was along for the ride with me - wouldn’t change a thing.”
