Keyon Martin injury: What happened to Louisiana CB during Texas State clash?

Louisiana cornerback Keyon Martin suffered a horrific injury in the team's Week 10 matchup against Texas State on Tuesday night. Martin needed to be stretchered off the field shortly before halftime after suffering what appeared to be a severe head/neck injury that left him motionless on the field.

Fans on social media quickly sent their well wishes for Martin, and many also wanted further updates on the player.

As things stand, Keyon Martin is now stable and in recovery. On Tuesday, he tweeted an update from the hospital while wearing a neck brace with a thumbs-up to the camera.

"Appreciate All The Prayers And Concerns. Ima Shake Back. God Got Me!!! #GeauxCajuns," Martin wrote.

Later on Tuesday night, ESPN also announced that Martin was discharged from the hospital.

Martin reportedly picked up a head/neck injury while making a tackle leading with his helmet. He got in a tangle with the ball carrier and was down on the field for more than 10 minutes while medics tended to him before carting him off.

Nonetheless, it's still unclear when Martin will return to action for Louisiana. However, it appears that the team will have to monitor his progress and recovery closely before making a decision.

Martin is currently in his third season with the Ragin' Cajuns. He transferred to Louisiana after the 2021 season, having previously spent two years with Youngstown State.

This season, Martin has recorded 36 tackles, of which 30 have been solo, while also posting three passes defended.

Louisiana went on to beat Texas State 23-17 to improve to a 7-1 record (4-0 in SBC) after Week 10. The Ragin' Cajuns, who are on a five-game win streak, are currently atop the SBC West standings.
