Kirby Smart is a college football coach, appointed by the Georgia Bulldogs in December 2015. Smart won the George Munger Award in 2017 and the SEC Coach of the Year in 2017, 2021, and 2022. He also won the 2009 Broyles Award, 2012 AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year, 1998 First-team All-SEC, and 1997 Second-team All-SEC recognition. Under Smart’s guidance, the Bulldogs held a 94-16 record in eight seasons with six SEC Eastern Division Championships and seven New Year's Six bowl games. Smart is also known for transforming Georgia into one of the top defensive programs in the nation. His influence on the team, players, and fans is immense, as he led Georgia to the national stage eight times. Smart set a milestone of 46-2 record in 48 games and qualified in 27 consecutive bowl games. Georgia’s 2023 senior batch set a new record with the most career wins with 50 in the program's history.

Kirby Smart led the Bulldogs for the first time as the head coach in 2016. He finished the season with an 8-5 record and earned their 20th consecutive bowl appearance. That season was marked by winning the AutoZone Liberty Bowl against TCU. After a successful 2016 season, Smart finished the 2017 regular season with an 11-1 record. He also guided the Bulldogs to the SEC Championship and the CFP National Championship Game. Smart also appeared in the Rose Bowl against Oklahoma. In 2017, he helped linebacker Roquan Smith win the Dick Butkus Award. In 2018, Smart again finished the season with an 11-1 regular season record and also won the second straight SEC Eastern Division Championship. That season they finished fourth in the CFP poll and also won the Allstate Sugar Bowl against New Orleans.

Kirby Smart, as the head coach, won two national championship rings. Smart helped the Bulldogs beat the Crimson Tide 33-18 and won their first national championship after 41 years. In 2022, he again guided the Bulldogs to their second consecutive national championship.
