Lathan Ransom is one of the most sought-after defensive players who will play his final season of college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ransom went to Salpointe Catholic High School where he registered 82 tackles, eight pass breakups, and six interceptions during his junior year. The four-star from Tucson was ranked the No.5 safety in the country and the 76th overall recruit in the class of 2020. Ransom was also selected to participate in the US Army All-American game.

The 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds safety from Salpointe Catholic started his collegiate football journey with Ohio State Buckeyes over offers from Auburn, Arizona State, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and USC among others. In his true freshman year, Ransom saw action in seven games, recording five total tackles during the COVID season. The following year as a sophomore, Ransom recorded 38 total tackles including a sack and five pass breakups. In 2022, Ransom witnessed a breakout campaign where he totaled 74 tackles with 1.5 sacks and three pass breakups. He was ranked third on the team in tackles and was a semi-finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. Last season, Ransom managed to play eight games before missing the rest of the campaign with a foot injury. Before his injury, Ransom was credited with 34 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups. Despite several rumors of him entering the 2024 NFL Draft, Ransom confirmed his stay at Ohio State for his final year of eligibility.
