Lathan Ransom is an American college football player who has announced his return to Ohio State for his final season of eligibility. Ransom started his football career at Salpointe Catholic High School where he recorded 82 tackles, two sacks, six interceptions, and eight pass breakups. He was also selected to participate in the US Army All-American game and was named Tucson’s Athlete of the Year in 2019. Ransom was ranked the No.5 safety in the nation by 247Sports. The four-star safety from Tucson embarked on his collegiate football journey with Ohio State Buckeyes after considering offers from top programs like Arizona State, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Texas.

In his freshman season, Ransom saw action in only seven games and recorded only five tackles. The following year as a sophomore, Ransom saw an increase in play time as he appeared in 13 games while tallying 38 tackles and five pass breakups. His breakthrough campaign came in 2022 when he recorded 74 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and three passes and also defended in 12 games for the Buckeyes.

Last season, Ransom sustained a Lisfranc injury against Wisconsin and sat out for the remainder of the campaign. In his four-year with the Buckeyes, Ransom recorded 151 total tackles, 11 pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions.
