The Lott IMPACT Trophy presented by Allied Universal is an annual award given to the best defensive player in collegiate football. This accolade is given to a player with character and athleticism both on and off the pitch. The award was established in 2004 and honors the former NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott. Throughout his career, Ronnie Lott won four Super Bowls and was named the USC All-American twice. IMPACT is an abbreviation for, Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity. The award is given to those players who have made great contributions on the field and are also role models off the field. The trophy is hosted at a ceremony held in Newport Beach, California. The proceeds from the ceremony are used to support various charities.
