The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns is a football team of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, competing in the Sun Belt Conference. The football program was established in 1901 and the program is funded by The RCAF (Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation). They play their home games at Cajun Field in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have won 10 conference championships and five division championships. The team is led by head coach Michael Desormeaux and it is his third season for the Ragin' Cajuns. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns had a remarkable season in 2021. Under head coach Billy Napier, the team finished the season with a 13-1 record and were 8-0 in Sun Belt Conference. They won the Sun Belt Conference Championship, where they defeated Appalachian State 24-16. Their success carried over into the postseason, culminating in a 36–21 win against the Marshall Thundering Herd in the New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin' Cajuns finished 16th in the Associated Press Poll and were ranked 18th in the Coaches Poll.
