The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs go on the road to play the Sam Houston Bearkats. The game can be seen on ESPNU.

Lousiana Tech (3-4, 2-2 CUSA) is coming off a 14-10 win over UTEP. On the other hand, Sam Houston (6-2, 3-1 CUSA) enters this matchup after a 10-7 road win over FIU.

Louisiana Tech vs. Sam Houston: Preview

Louisiana Tech is a 10.5-point underdog while the over/under is set at 45.5 points.

The Bulldogs returned to the win column last week after an upset loss to New Mexico State in overtime. Louisiana Tech was led by Evan Bullock, who threw for 248 yards and a touchdown, while Jimmy Holliday led the way with 93 receiving yards on six receptions while adding 18 rushing yards.

It wasn't the best performance, and Louisana Tech coach Sonny Crumbie said his team needs to get better.

"I think that there's some area of improvement, obviously offensively from that standpoint, in terms of our goal," Crumbie said, via the team's website. "We wanted to embrace the moments. I think that there were in moments this game where our kids did that. And in particular on defense, the last drive an incredible stop on fourth down.
"I'm very thankful that they got the call right with review. I don't know, we would have probably some people that would have been flagged or thrown in jail maybe if that would have not gone our way. But it was a great win. Proud of our team. There's a lot of things on offense that we'd like to have done better."

Bullock has thrown for 1,038 yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions. Sifa Leota leads the way defensively with 2.5 sacks, while Kolve Fields has 52 tackles.

Sam Houston, meanwhile, is coming off a 10-7 road win over FIU. Quarterback Jase Bauer struggled as he threw for just 76 yards but did rush for 72 yards.

However, the Bearkats were led by their defense as they forced an interception against Keyone Jenkins while keeping FIU to 74 passing yards.

The win made Sam Houston bowl-eligible, which coach K.C. Keeler is proud of but said the work is not done.

“I told the fellas sometimes you have to score 40 points in the second, third and fourth quarters to win a game. Sometimes you need to play unbelievable defense and make a play on special teams,” Keeler said, via itemonline.
“What a great win. What a historic win, we are going bowling. Just to say those words brings chills to my spine. Our work is not done, but being bowl-eligible is sweet.”

Sam Houston's defense is legit, and it should be able to limit the Bulldogs' offense. Sam Houston's offense should also be better here at home, as the Bearkats will get another big win here.

Prediction: Sam Houston 28, Louisiana Tech 20.
