The Louisville Cardinals will aim to end their season on a high when they face the Washington Huskies in the Sun Bowl. The Cardinals, led by second-year coach Jeff Brohm enter the Sun Bowl fresh off a dominant 41-14 victory over Kentucky, while Washington looks to rebound from a 49-21 loss to Oregon
Louisville concluded the regular season at 8-4 overall and 5-3 in ACC play. It has 12 players on the All-ACC team, including wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks, who made the First Team, and running back Isaac Brown, who earned both Offensive and Overall Rookie of the Year honors.
Meanwhile, the Huskies, transitioning into the Big Ten in their first season under coach Jedd Fisch, ended the regular season at 6-6 overall, going 4-5 in conference play. Despite an undefeated 6-0 record at home, Washington struggled on the road, finishing 0-6 away from Husky Stadium.
This matchup will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on CBS.
Who is Louisville’s starting QB for the Sun Bowl?
Louisville will turn to redshirt junior Harrison Bailey as its starting quarterback for the Sun Bowl. The decision follows Pierce Clarkson’s transfer and Tyler Shough’s decision to opt out of the game.
Bailey, a former five-star recruit ranked as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback by Rivals in 2020, began his college football career at Tennessee before transferring to UNLV and eventually joining Louisville.
Bailey completed eight of his passing attempts for 63 yards across four games.
Who is Washington’s starting QB for the Sun Bowl?
The Huskies will rely on freshman quarterback Demond Williams Jr., a rising star who followed coach Jedd Fisch from Arizona to Washington. Fisch confirmed earlier in December that Williams is ready to lead the team.
During the 2024 season, Williams threw for 570 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, earning an impressive QBR of 83.5. Known for his accuracy, he completed 85.0% of his passes in Washington’s most recent game against Oregon.
