LSU's starting QB against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 11

Garrett Nussmeier has started and completed all eight games of the 2024 season. The Lake Charles product is the Tigers' starting quarterback, and he has thrived in the time.

Nussmeier chose LSU over scholarship offers from Baylor, Georgia, Miami, Texas, and more. He was a backup option for his first three seasons before he finally took over the starting job in Year 4.

Nussmeier has compiled a couple of superb highlights, but none looked as impressive as his Week 2 showing against the Nicholls Colonels. Nussmeier torched his opponents, ending the game with a stat line of 302 passing yards, six touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

LSU's QB depth chart

Rickie Collins and AJ Swann are the other LSU quarterbacks on the active squad. Rickie Collins is a redshirt freshman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Collins was a splendid athlete in Woodlawn, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. Collins was featured in just one game in his true freshman season, and he currently stands as Nussmeier's backup in Year 2.

AJ Swann is the third-string quarterback in his junior season with the LSU Tigers. Swann started his career with the Vanderbilt Commodores and started 15 games across two seasons for the Commodores. He eventually decided to enter the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 college football season. Swann chose to take his talents to LSU, and he's currently behind Garrett Nussmeier and Rickie Collins on the depth chart.

The LSU quarterback room is one of the deepest in the nation. The powerhouse program has a top-tier quarterback in Nussmeier, a high-caliber redshirt freshman in Collins, and an experienced transfer quarterback in Swann. The Tigers have sufficient insurance just in case any of their quarterbacks suffer an injury, and they're well-equipped to go on a solid run.
