LSU vs Florida: Preview
LSU is a four-point favorite on the road against Florida. The over/under is set at 55.5 points.
The Tigers are coming off a blowout loss to Alabama, but LSU still has a slight hope of playing in the SEC Championship game.
"If you're watching the game, you're like, 'What did these guys do for two weeks?'" coach Brian Kelly said of the loss, via ESPN. "We have a scheme to stop the quarterback. We did not get that done, so I take responsibility for it. But we also have to put our players in the right position to take advantage of what they're capable of doing. So we own it together, and we've got to get it fixed, because it's been a couple of weeks now."
LSU is led by Garrett Nussmeier, who has thrown for 2,866 yards, 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Caden Durham has rushed for 460 yards and six touchdowns. Kyren Lacy has caught 46 passes for 697 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Tigers are led by Zy Alexander, who has two interceptions, Bradyn Swinson, who has eight sacks, and Whit Weeks, who has 92 tackles.
Florida, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back games to Texas and Georgia.
The Gators are expected to get back quarterback DJ Lagway, who was recovering from a hamstring injury. However, Kelly says LSU is preparing for both Lagway and backup quarterback Aidan Warner.
“You have to prepare for both,” Brian Kelly said, via 247Sports. “It’s certainly a quarterback that has a talent that we’ve seen on film in terms of what he does. We haven’t had a lot of games but we know of him, he throws a great ball, he’s athletic and certainly, we’ll prepare for both quarterbacks.”
Florida is led by Lagway who's thrown for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. Jadan Baugh has rushed for 411 yards and six touchdowns, while Elijah Badger has caught 24 passes for 560 passes for two touchdowns.
Defensively, the Gators are led by Devin Moore, who has two interceptions, Tyreak Sapp, who has 3.5 sacks, and Trikweze Bridges, who has 45 takes.
Florida's offense should get a boost with Lagway back in the lineup. But, after the blowout loss to Alabama, LSU should come in with a chip on their shoulder to get a big road win here.
Prediction: LSU 30, Florida 21
