Luke Altmyer is an American college football quarterback who is currently playing for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He commenced his football career at Starkville High School. During his high school career, Altmyer participated in the Elite 11 where he was a finalist and was regarded as the top-five player in the state of Mississippi. He concluded his high school career with 5,523 passing yards with 63 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Coming out of Starkville High School as a unanimous four-star prospect, Altmyer embarked on his collegiate football journey with Ole Miss Rebels where he mostly played as a backup. After enrolling with the Rebels, Altmyer saw action in only five games in his freshman year where he totaled 192 passing yards and one touchdown on the season. The following year as a sophomore, Altmyer saw action in four games and redshirted the campaign before entering the transfer portal in 2022.


Altmyer decided to commit to the Illinois Fighting Illini where he was named the starting quarterback for the 2023 season. Last season, Atlmyer started nine games and recorded 1,883 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. The Starkville native will be aiming for the starting quarterback role in his second season with Illini.
