The Buckeyes planned to use him more as a sophomore, but he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the season's first game.

Marcus Freeman's fifth season saw him record college career highs in assisted tackles (45), sacks (3.5) and fumble recoveries (one). He earned his second All-Big Ten second-team nod for his efforts.

Freeman declared for the 2009 NFL draft and was selected by the Chicago Bears in round five. He spent time with the Bears, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans before he retired on May 1, 2010, due to a heart condition.
