Mario Cristobal is a head coach, appointed by the Miami Hurricanes in 2022. Cristobal has gathered experience from the collegiate level and the NFL, both as a player and now as a coach. Cristobal is a native of Miami, Florida, and played at the offensive tackle position for the Miami Hurricanes. He led the team to two national championships in 1989 and 1991. Cristobal began his coaching career as the graduate assistant for Miami in 1998. After years of coaching experience at Miami and Rutgers, he became the assistant head coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2013. Cristobal was soon known as the top recruiter at the collegiate level, he also won the 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year in 2015. To lead the 2018 season, Cristobal became the head coach for the Oregon Ducks and won two Pac-12 Championships.

By the end of Cristobal's career at Oregon, the Ducks were ranked as the 5th program in the nation and won numerous all-conference and All-American honors.
