Massachusetts vs. Georgia is a matchup where the injury report could be a factor. While the No. 8-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (8-2) are heavily favored to win this matchup over the UMass Minutemen (2-8), the Bulldogs have far more injuries to deal with. So, while an upset is unlikely, if it does occur, it will most likely be because of injuries.
Massachusetts vs Georgia injury report
Injuries are always a factor in college football, and that remains true for this Week 13 matchup. Massachusetts is lucky to be one of the few teams with only a single player on its injury report. Conversely, the Bulldogs have several players missing from the lineup.
Massachusetts injury report
The Minutemen have had a poor season but they cannot blame it on injuries. They have been one of the healthiest teams in college football this year. Heading into their Week 13 matchup against Georgia, they have only one player on their injury report.
#1 Taisun Phommachanh
While the Minutemen only have one injury, the one they have is significant. Starting quarterback Taisun Phommachanh is out for the season with an undisclosed lower-body injury. He made his last appearance of the season in a 45-20 loss to Mississippi State in early November.
As a result of the injury, UMass has only two freshmen available as quarterbacks: Ahmad Haston and A.J. Hairston. Phommachanh threw for 1,590 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games before getting injured.
Georgia injury report
Unlike the Minutemen, the Bulldogs have dealt with several injuries throughout the year. Many players have been in and out of the lineup for Georgia, and that remains the same for this matchup on Saturday.
#1 Tate Ratledge
Offensive lineman Tate Ratledge was expected to be a big piece of the Bulldogs' offensive line this year, but injuries have kept him out of the lineup for most of the year. He has been dealing with an ankle injury since early in the year.
Ratledge underwent surgery in September to repair his ankle and has been back in a limited capacity for the past three games. He is listed as questionable for Saturday's matchup.
#2 Trevor Etienne
Running back Trevor Etienne is listed as questionable on the report with an undisclosed injury. Coach Kirby Smart believes the injury occurred in practice and hopes to have him back soon.
#3 Dillon Bell
Wide receiver Dillon Bell suffered an ankle injury on Saturday in a 31-17 win over Tennessee. However, the Bulldogs got good news when it was revealed that the injury does not seem serious. So, he is listed as probable against UMass.
