Matt Jones plays as the running back for the Ole Miss college collegiate football team. Before joining the Ole Miss college football team, he received offers from Southern Miss, Arkansas State, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Louisiana-Monroe, Texas State, Samford, Alcorn State, and others. Matt’s football career was guided by his high school football career, at the Jackson Preparatory high school in Flowood, Mississippi. During his high school football career, he secured the MAIS first team All-State accolades in both his junior and senior years. In his junior year, he rushed for 1,504 yards and 30 touchdowns and in his senior year, he posted 1,064 all-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns.

His college football career kicked off during the 2021 season, with the Ole Miss as a redshirt and did not appear in any games in the same season. It was in the 2022 season, he made his debut as a redshirt freshman and appeared in four games for the season. In his debut, he posted three carries for three yards and registered his first career rushing touchdown. For the 2023 season, his sophomore year, he started in 12 games and recorded 199 total snaps across offence and special teams. He also registered rushes 12 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns. After his successful 2023 campaign, he earned the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll Spring 2024 and looked forward to the new season.
