Michigan State displayed an image of Adolf Hitler as part of a pregame quiz on the video boards prior to their game against No. 2 Michigan on Saturday night. This led to widespread criticism of the football program on social media for showing inappropriate content.
The university later issued an apology for the situation, explaining that it was provided by an external source. Michigan State spokesman also noted that the university will halt the use of third-party sources going forward. Nonetheless, Kelly Stafford is not impressed.
Speaking on a recent episode of 'The Morning After with Kelly Stafford and Hank' podcast, Stafford couldn't believe the response of the university to the situation. The wife of the Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is of the opinion that the Spartans could have done better.

"They probably proved it. I feel like that was thrown in after the proof. You can't, there's no way that made it past multiple eyes."
Michigan State apology for the Hitler image
Michigan State released a statement following the game to apologize for the pregame incident, noting that it does not convey the values of the institution.
“MSU is aware that inappropriate content by a third-party source was displayed on the video board prior to the start of tonight’s football game,” the statement read. "We are deeply sorry for the content that was displayed, as this is not representative of our institutional values.
"MSU will not be using the third-party source going forward and will implement stronger screening and approval procedures for all video board content in the future."
Opinions on the incident on social media varied, with some perceiving it as a harmless trivia question, while others found the display of Hitler on the scoreboard offensive.
Suspension of the employee behind it
The employee responsible for the Adolf Hitler image has been suspended with pay as a response to the social media uproar that the controversy generated. The university made this known in the statement released.
“An initial assessment was conducted, and an involved employee has been identified and suspended with pay pending the results of an investigation. The investigation will determine any future appropriate actions."
Notably, the university athletic director Alan Haller has extended outreach to the Jewish community and students in the vicinity of the school following the incident. The incident further adds to what has been a controversial season for Michigan State.
