Dayton Raiola is another potential college football star from the Raiola clan. He is the younger brother of current Nebraska true freshman and starting quarterback Dylan Raiola and the son of former Cornhuskers and Detroit Lions center Dominic Raiola.
Just like his brother, the class of 2026 prospect also plays quarterback. He is currently in his junior year at Buford High School in Buford, Georgia, playing as the starting option for the Wolves. Dylan also attended the same institution during his senior season in high school.
Dayton Raiola is rated a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. He is currently the No. 583 prospect in his class and the No. 51 quarterback. With one more season to play at high school after 2024, the signal-caller has a lot of chances to improve his recruitment rating.
Dayton Raiola’s commitment to Nebraska
Dayton Raiola has given his commitment to Nebraska, creating the possibility of teaming up with his brother in the program in 2026. The quarterback announced his decision on Sunday evening, becoming the latest member of his family to script history with the Cornhuskers
Nebraska's offer for Dayton arrived this fall as his brother prepares for his first season at the school. He becomes the first commitment for the Cornhuskers in the 2026 cycle.
“The offer from Nebraska is very special,” Dayton told On3. “It was a crazy feeling when I found out about it. My dad went there, my uncle is there, my brother is looking at them, and it is just cool to know I have the chance to go there. Every time we go to Nebraska, we see my dad’s name inside the stadium and it is a special feeling to have this offer.”
Dayton Raiola shares his list of other top programs
While Dayton Raiola has given his commitment to Nebraska, there are a host of schools with reputable programs in the college football landscape that intrigue him. He disclosed the list to On3 on Sunday following the announcement of his commitment decision.
“Other than Nebraska, since I was young, I have always liked Clemson,” Dayton said. “Coach Dabo Swinney is a believer in Christ and that stands out to me. Oregon is a school I have liked growing up too. Since Marcus Mariota went there, with him being from Hawaii, that is cool.
“… Every time we have been to Georgia, I have loved it. Coach Smart is so easy to talk to and such a great person. Coach Riley at USC is awesome too, and it has been awesome to sit in meetings with him."
Raiola's connection with Nebraska through his family and the relationship he's formed with the coaches is bound to help keep his commitment to the program. However, there are still chances of flipping. His brother, Dylan, flipped his commitment twice to land in Lincoln.
