The future of Shedeur Sanders, the standout quarterback from the Colorado Buffaloes, has become a hot topic with just four months left until the 2025 NFL draft.

Many analysts predict that Sanders will be a top-five pick, with some even ranking him among the top three. However, former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly has raised concerns about Sanders' ability to transition into the NFL.

Kelly shared his critical evaluation of Sanders, particularly referencing his performance in Colorado's loss to BYU.

“Went back and watched the tape this morning—Shedeur Sanders melted down like a snowman against No. 17 BYU. Can’t even imagine how timid and how overwhelmed he will look against the speed and complexity of the #NFL,” Kelly said.

He also advised NFL teams to scrutinize Sanders' performances against top-tier opponents.

“I encourage any team thinking about Sanders to specifically study him against No. 18 Kansas State and No. 17 BYU—not project him to the NFL based on how he ‘looked’ on film against FCS NDSU or No. 99 Oklahoma State. Sanders looks like a fringe practice squad prospect against K State and BYU,” Kelly noted.

Daniel Kelly balancing criticism with respect

Despite his critique, Daniel Kelly clarified that his intention wasn’t to undermine Sanders' contributions to Colorado’s program.

“Not taking anything away from what Sanders meant to Colorado and their program—not trying to disrespect him, his program, his college accomplishments or his level of competition because I have respect for how hard they train, play, and fight—but let’s keep it real.
"Now the conversation has changed. Now we’re talking about the NFL. For his sake and the sake of everyone involved, please let’s keep this real.”

Deion Sanders' take on Shedeur Sanders' NFL landing spot

Adding another layer of intrigue is the speculation surrounding where Shedeur Sanders could land in the NFL.

His father and coach, Deion Sanders, responded on X to rumors that he vetoed the Browns and Titans as potential destinations:

“It will be multiple IDIOTS that will say things that totally aren’t true regarding where I would like Shedeur & Shilo to play in the NFL.”

The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are among the most likely destinations for Shedeur Sanders.

Both teams are set to secure high draft picks for 2025, with the Giants currently at fourth and the Raiders at eight.
