After winning last year's national championship title, the Michigan Wolverines will be confident heading into the upcoming college football season. However, they could find a challenge playing their first season under head coach Sherrone Moore.
Since last year, Michigan has lost some big names like Jim Harbaugh, JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, and 11 other players picked in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Moore was the Wolverines' interim head coach in 2023 for four games. He also worked as their tight ends coach and their offensive coordinator before taking the head coach hat from Jim Harbaugh.
During the 2024 Big Ten media days, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards listed the similarities and differences between coach Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore:
"He's been absolutely no different than what he was as an offensive coordinator, he's always been a players' coach kind of guy and he's always listening to all his players and what their opinions are and doing what is the absolute best for the team. Not for the individuals, but for the team. That is the kind of guy he is."
"It's a different personality from Coach Harbaugh to Coach Moore, but the business aspect of it has been the exact same thing. Ultimately, we're proud that Coach Moore is our head coach and we're gonna ride and die with him."
A look at Michigan's all-new locker room
Sherrone Moore's team received a donation worth $7,000,000 from the Brown-Monroe Foundation owing to their electrifying 15-0 run and a national championship title last year. The Wolverines have used the money in the right place, as they got themselves a shiny, new locker room for the players and the staff.
The renovated locker room has attractive amenities like a pool table, an in-house barber shop, a bowling alley, and a big screen room, among other features.
MLive's Ryan Zuke reported the estimated renovation cost was around $14 million. Despite their successful run last year, many analysts have low-balled Michigan to win the natty in 2024. However, fans would be interested to see how the Wolverines perform during their first season in the post-Jim Harbaugh era.
