Michigan Starting QB 2024: Who will start for Sherrone Moore's team in Week 13?

The Michigan Wolverines are having a mixed 2024 college football season. The Wolverines' national championship defense has yet to go according to plan, with the program compiling a 5-5 record heading into Week 13.

Ahead of their Week 13 matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats, here's a closer look at the Wolverines' starting quarterback and QB depth chart.

Michigan's starting QB against Northwestern Wildcats in Week 13

Davis Warren has started six out of the Wolverines' 10 games this season, and he's currently on track to start the game against Northwestern. Warren has compiled a stat line of 869 passing yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions in the 2024 season.

The Los Angeles-born shot caller hasn't been the elite quarterback the Wolverines needed after J.J. McCarthy's departure to the NFL. Hence, it won't be a surprise if the Wolverines elect to dip into the transfer portal at the end of the 2024 college football season.

Warren will have the chance to qualify the Wolverines for bowl games by winning the last two games of the season. First, the Wolverines will play the Northwestern Wildcats, and then, in the final game of the regular season, they will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in a crucial matchup.

Michigan Wolverines QB depth chart

According to the College Football Network, Alex Orji is the only other active quarterback on the Michigan Wolverines depth chart. Orji has recorded three starts in the 2024 college football season, with the Wolverines recording two wins and a loss in those games.

The Sachse High School product has been at Michigan since 2022, and he played in three games during his true freshman season. In his first season at the collegiate level, Orji compiled a stat line of six rushes, 37 rushing yards and two rushing TDs.

The dual-threat quarterback started the 2023 college football season as McCarthy's primary backup. He was featured in six games in the Wolverines' championship season, with none of those appearances being made. He did bump up his stats to 15 rushes for 86 rushing yards and a touchdown for the season as the Wolverines defeated the Washington Huskies to win the 2023 national championship.

Orji has served as a backup for the majority of the 2024 college football season behind Davis Warren. It remains to be seen how he will perform if given the chance to play in the last two games of the 2024 season.
