Mike Elko is an American college football coach who was born on July 28, 1977, in South Brunswick, New Jersey, U.S. The 47-year-old is the head football coach at Texas A&M University, as of 2024.
Elko used to play basketball and baseball during his graduation days in 1995 from South Brunswick High School. Additionally, the college football coach was recognized as the Greater Middlesex Conference’s top quarterback in 1994 by the coaches of the league. In addition to these honors in his early career, he was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. The University of Pennsylvania graduate also won the Ivy League Championship in 1998 during his time on the Penn Quakers football team.
Mike’s coaching career started when he coached under Dave Clawson for 12 seasons. In 2016, he was named as the new defensive coordinator at Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. Following two years, Mike became the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M in January 2018 when he signed a three-year deal. Later, in December 2021, Elko was announced as Duke’s head coach before he was transferred to Texas A&M in November 2023.
