The high-powered Duke’s Mayo Bowl is set to deliver some excitement to the fans as Minnesota and Virginia Tech face off on Friday evening. Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck, who led the Golden Gophers to a solid 7-5 season, aims to extend his streak of five bowl victories with the team to six against the Hokies.
On the other hand, Virginia Tech - under coach Brent Pry - is eager to secure back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2016-17 despite navigating a challenging season with a 6-6 record.
The tradition of drenching the winning coach in mayonnaise adds a fun twist to this non-CFP bowl game, making it a fan favorite. This game will be the first-ever meeting between these two programs, setting the stage for an intense showdown at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
