Coach Neal Brown's West Virginia Mountaineers had high expectations going into the 2024 season. However, after three weeks, West Virginia is now 1-2 after dropping a 38-34 loss to Pitt on Saturday.

The Mountaineers allowed the game-winning touchdown with less than a minute to go for the heartbreaking defeat. Following the loss, West Virginia fans started to call for Brown to be fired.

If West Virginia opts to fire Neal Brown, here are his three potential replacements.

3 candidates who can lead West Virginia football if Neal Brown gets fired

#1. Andy Kotelnicki

Andy Kotelnicki is the offensive coordinator for Penn State and could be in line for a coaching job. Kotelnicki has never been a head coach in college football before, but he is a bright offensive mind. Before taking the job at Penn State this season, he was the OC at Kansas.

Kotelnicki deserves a chance to be a head coach, and West Virginia would make sense if the Mountaineers fired Neal Brown.

#2. Jimbo Fisher

This would be a long shot, but Jimbo Fisher is an interesting name. Fisher was fired by Texas A&M and received a hefty buyout, so he doesn't need to coach if he doesn't want to. But if Fisher intends to coach again, he could go to West Virginia and try to rebuild the Mountaineers.

Fisher was also born in West Virginia and goes home to visit family often. Getting to coach his hometown school could entice Fisher to return to the sidelines.

#3. Kyle Flood

Kyle Flood will be a popular name for coaching vacancies this offseason. Flood is the offensive coordinator at Texas, which has one of the top offenses in the country. Although Flood has been with Steve Sarkisian since 2021, if he gets offered a coaching job, it would be tough to turn down.

Flood and Texas also have a legitimate shot of winning the national championship, and if the Longhorns win, he has nothing else to prove.
