The Nebraska Cornhuskers are on the road to play the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen on NBC. Nebraska (6-5, 3-5 Big Ten) is coming off a 44-25 win over Wisconsin on Saturday, while Iowa (7-4, 53 Big Ten) is coming off a 29-13 victory over Maryland.

Nebraska vs. Iowa: Preview

Nebraska is a 5.5-point underdog on the road, with the over/under set at 39.5 points. This will be the annual rivalry game, and in history, Nebraska is 30-21-3.

The Cornhuskers are coming off a big win over Wisconsin to become bowl-eligible, making it their first bowl game since 2016.

“I would’ve liked to have gotten our sixth win a long time ago, but there’s something really important to us about playing Wisconsin," coach Matt Rhule said, via On3. "But it does feel like relief. It feels like relief because I want those older players to leave here like [Isaac Gifford] said when he was walking out at halftime, I want to change the program forever.”

Nebraska is led by quarterback Dylan Raiola, who has thrown for 2,405 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Running back Dante Dowdell has rushed for 564 yards and wide receiver Jahmal Banks has 467 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, the Cornhuskers are led by Malcolm Hartzog Jr., who has four interceptions, Ty Robinson with six sacks and Isaac Gifford with 65 tackles.

Iowa, meanwhile, is coming off a win over Maryland and now turns its attention to its rival in Nebraska. Walk-on quarterback Jackson Stratton is expected to start once again, as confirmed by coach Kirk Ferentz.

"Jumping in there, first start as our quarterback, and equally as significant, he's had a week to think about it," Ferentz said after the game, via 247Sports. "A week plus to think about it. So instead of getting thrown in, he knew he was going in and played with a lot of poise.
"He had good awareness out there and made the plays we were hoping he'd make and made good decisions, most importantly."

Stratton went 13-for-20 for 104 yards. The Hawkeyes are led by their running game, as Kaleb Johnson has rushed for 1,429 yards and 21 touchdowns, while Jacob Gill has 365 receiving yards.

The Hawkeyes are defensively led by Jay Higgins, who has four interceptions and a team-leading 106 tackles, while Aaron Graves has five sacks.

This should be a very competitive game between two rivals, but look for Nebraska to pull off the upset, in large part due to Stratton starting. Iowa will be a run-first offense and Nebraska should stack the box and limit Johnson which will hinder the Hawkeyes' offense.

Prediction: Nebraska 20, Iowa 17.
