What happened in Tennessee Volunteers vs Arkansas Razorbacks?
It was a day of upsets in the SEC, which started with No.1 Alabama Crimson Tide losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores. Then came another shock to the SEC table as the No.4 Volunteers suffered a 19-14 loss to Arkansas.
The Razorbacks pulled off a last-minute victory with an 11-yard touchdown by QB Malachi Singleton, sealing their fate. The Hogs knocked Tennessee’s offense down a peg, which averaged 565 yards per game before today’s matchup. Josh Heupel’s team managed 332 total yards against Arkansas.
The Razorbacks’ defense played lights out, stopping the Vols from scoring in the first half and limiting redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava to just 158 passing yards on 17-of-29 attempts. Tennessee’s only two scores came on the back of running back Dylan Sampson. Beyond that, the offense struggled to get anything going.
On the other hand, Arkansas was efficient and avoided turnovers, which had previously haunted them in losses to Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.
Tennessee will now look to bounce back next week at Neyland Stadium against the Florida Gators (3-2, 1-1, SEC).
